Top seeds cruise in NCAA openers
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Top-seeded Duke and Syracuse registered convincing victories to advance to the second round of the NCAA basketball tournament on Friday. Duke's Blue Devils, the top seed in the South Regional, crushed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 73-44, while Syracuse, the number one team in the West Regional, defeated Vermont 79-56.

| James beats Bryant mark as youngest to reach 15,000 points
CHICAGO (Reuters) - LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers became the youngest player to score 15,000 career points in the NBA on Friday, bettering Kobe Bryant's record by more than two years. The small forward accomplished the feat at 25 years, 79 days in his team's 92-85 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Bryant was 27 years, 136 days old when he reached the mark with the Los Angeles Lakers.
