Mardi Gras in Miami as Saints win first Super Bowl
MIAMI (Reuters) - The New Orleans Saints completed their long-awaited transformation from chumps to champions by defeating the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in the Super Bowl on Sunday to claim their first NFL title. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees completed 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns as he out-dueled the Colts' Peyton Manning to help the Saints recover from a 10-point first-quarter deficit.

| Lakers down Spurs for second win without Kobe
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Los Angeles Lakers pulled together to win their second straight contest without Kobe Bryant with a 101-89 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. Pau Gasol had a versatile effort with 21 points, 19 boards, eight assists and five blocks while Lamar Odom had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the defending NBA champions.
