Lester shuts out Yankees to end Rex Sox skid
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jon Lester tossed a complete-game
shutout to help the visiting Boston Red Sox beat their
arch-rival New York Yankees 7-0 and end a five-game losing
streak on Thursday. In the first clash of a four-game series,
the Red Sox left-hander struck out eight New York batters and
allowed just five hits to record his seventh victory of the
season.

Nats' Dukes leaves with knee injury
Dukes took an awkward line toward a deep fly ball to left-center off the bat of Jay Bruce. He began back-pedaling to the wall before making the catch against the fence but immediately crumpled to the ground in pain, clutching at his knee. Dukes had to be removed from the field on a motorized cart after trainers from both teams ran out to examine him. ...{more} |
